A Philly Girl With A Dream

In 2007, while attending college and working part-time, I decided to start Sch-Rel’s Beauty Boutique to cater to women who wanted fashion and beauty finds that were fun and fabulous. I loved interacting with women I met via promoting on Myspace and through mutual friends. The business started to grow by throwing jewelry parties and appointment only meetups. I realized that I wanted to offer more exclusive merchandise and began wanting to design but did not know where to start. While using Myspace, I discovered an option for blogging on my profile but because Myspace was rapidly dying I decided to create a blog www.SheStayFabulous.com to document my inspiration, creative expression, and business journey.

In 2010, I began hand making earrings that were one of a kind with cheetah print fabric, sequin fabric, and beads. I totally just went for it and started to offer them for sale with positive feedback for their unique design. Of course, I developed a fear that no one would like or buy my handmade pieces but I had to challenge myself and make my brand stand out for the unique items. After vending at numerous of events around the city and surrounding counties, I wanted to challenge myself and re-brand under Sch-Rel Desire.

March 1, 2013, www.Sch-RelDesire.com was born and there was no turning back. The mission was to cater to the Fabulous! I got obsessed with being ‘Fabulous’ from Kimora Lee but wanted to apply my own twist to it. I want to empower women to not only be Fabulous for their appearance but also strive to be Fabulous mentally, spiritually, and physically. With women empowerment, I want to dress these fabulous women in wearable art that will make them feel confident and fierce. Sch-Rel Desire will be known for timeless fashion and accessories backed behind an army of amazingly fabulous women who also face day to day challenges, but having the ability to still pick themselves up, throw on their fabulous attire, and slay effortlessly.

In 2017, Sch-Rel Desire is growing, and I am working on my very own manufactured collection due to release later this year. The road to building Sch-Rel Desire Fashion Brand has not been an easy one. There are struggles every day being a woman of color trying to build her own fashion brand without a blueprint but simply learning as I go and taking risks. I have run into numerous setbacks, losses, and disappointments during these 10 years of business and just had to learn along the way. On the flip side, I have also experienced positive growth and amazing milestones along this journey. Even during the time, we may be discouraged during our ambitious journey we cannot give up because a breakthrough is near. I want to thank each and every one that has believed in the brand and who have shown their support. You are FABULOUS!
